The Course, which now offers a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, will have an annual intake of nine trainees from 1995. The Deputy Director post requires an experienced Chartered Clinical Psychologist to work closely with the Director, Dr Maggie Cormack. The main responsibilities include the development, planning, organisation, and monitoring of clinical placements; teaching, research, and research supervision. The postholder will work closely with the members of the Course team, healthcare providers, local district, unit, trust and speciality heads of service, and current and potential supervisors. The Center focuses on the cognitive and computational modeling of human reasoning, inference, and risk-taking in its social and motivational context. The Center will be interdisciplinary, bringing together psychological research with ideas from neighboring disciplines, such as Computer Science, Evolutionary Biology, and Economics. We have a newly established EEG facility, which is based on a similar one at Eugene Oregon, and we have a close working relationship with people in that laboratory. The system enables detailed data to be collected regarding scalp localisation as it utilises a dense array of 128 electrode sites. There is a new active research group in this area with the involvement of 5 faculty members, a post-doc, and two Ph.D. students. Current areas of active interest include language processing, language disorders, memory, and attention. Applications are invited for two lectureships in psychology (cognitive/neuroscience).
